Seeking Engineering Peer Reviewers for AIA MasterSpec

We understand how critical it is for engineers and architects to have access to a trusted source for specification content to build better buildings, and positively impact our lives and communities. That is why we are relentless in our mission to maintain the accuracy and quality of specification content in AIA MasterSpec.

A critical part of our quality control process is the periodic, impartial peer review of existing and proposed MasterSpec content. We invite licensed Professional Engineers and certified design professionals to provide our spec writers with technical feedback on existing and new product types, and recommended priorities for section updates.

Join the review committee

We are currently seeking new members for the Electrical MasterSpec Engineering Review Committee (eMERC) to review content associated with Automation, Electrical, Communications, Electronic Safety and Security, and Utilities (Divisions 25, 26, 27, 28, and 33) specifications.

Each candidate must possess qualifications in good standing as a licensed Professional Engineer and/or as a certified design professional by BICSI, ASIS, IALD, NCQLP, or ISA; and each candidate must have at least five years of design experience working with MasterSpec content.

The eMERC meets in person twice per year over a Friday and Saturday, usually in the Alexandria, Va., or Washington, D.C., area. A per diem is available. The specification content to be discussed during the meetings will be provided in advance.

eMERC members receive access to the AIA MasterSpec Library at no cost during their time of service as well as a certificate of professional development hours.

Committee members hold one-year terms and can serve up to three consecutive terms. Those serving as Vice President or President of the eMERC can extend their commitment for two additional one-year terms.
